School Council 2018-19
Welcome to our page. Our School Council consists of two children from every class, one boy and one girl, who represent their own class. The children are elected to the School Council by their peers at the beginning of the autumn term each academic year.
They take whole school issues and ideas from their own class councils and feed them into the School Council. They also share ideas and decisions from the School Council with their class. Decisions made within School Council can, and do, have a real impact on the rest of the school.
The children will also be involved in organising fundraising activities for chosen charities throughout the year.
Our chosen charities are:
Local- Herts Young Homeless
National- Guide dogs for the blind
International- Play for change
Children in Need Day - Friday 16th November 2018 - A fantastic amount raised £814.56
Everyone came to school today dressed in their pyjamas or a onesey for a voluntary donation of £1 to Children in Need.
Lots of fun was had by everyone – Key Stage 1 children counted spots on the playground and yummy, spotty cakes were sold after school to raise even more money for this worthy charity.
Every penny donated goes towards helping disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK. Their vision is that every child in the UK has a childhood which is safe, happy and secure, and allows them the chance to reach their potential.
Roles and Responsibilities
Everyone has a job on the School Council because we think it is important that the children run it and are fully involved in it. Here are some of those roles and responsibilities:
Role and Responsibility
|Chair||Chairs the meeting.|
|Vice Chair||Alternates chairing the meeting with the chair.|
|Secretary||Writes Minutes in the meeting and types them up afterwards.|
|Treasurer||Assists the secretary with minutes and paperwork.|
School Council Members
|Key Stage two members assist the KS1 children in taking notes to share with their classes when they return from the meeting.|
If you think you can help, or have more ideas on how to help Wood End School be even better, then put yourself forward for School Council next year. I look forward to working with you!
